Companion Movie Review 2025: A Romance Thriller Preview
If you’re a sucker for love stories but crave something a little… *unhinged*, then you’re going to want to mark your calendars for “Companion.”
From New Line Cinema—the geniuses behind The Notebook—and the twisted minds who brought you Barbarian (yes, that nightmare fuel) comes a love story like no other. "Companion" is not just another love story, it's a heartwarming and hair-raising tale that will leave you breathless. With its unique narrative, compelling characters, and unexpected twists, this film promises to be a must-watch.
The cast? Oh, it’s stacked. Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets, The Boogeyman) and Jack Quaid (The Boys, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) lead the charge, with a stellar ensemble including Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend. With such a talented cast, this film will surely be a hit.
Behind the scenes, the team is just as impressive. The producers? The same folks who made Barbarian the talk of the town—Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, Zach Cregger, and Roy Lee. The cinematography? It is gorgeously eerie, courtesy of Eli Born (The Boogeyman, Hellraiser). And let’s not forget the production design by Scott Kuzio (Dumb Money, Fear Street trilogy), the editing by Brett W. Bachman (The Fall of the House of Usher, Pig) and Josh Ethier (Orphan: First Kill), and the costumes by Vanessa Porter (The Toxic Avenger, Archive 81).
Oh, and the music? Hrishikesh Hirway (Song Exploder, Everything Sucks!) is on board as a composer, with Rob Lowry (Do Revenge, Miracle Workers) handling music supervision. And let’s give it up for casting director Nancy Nayor (Saw X, Barbarian), who knows how to assemble a killer lineup.
“Companion” is a BoulderLight Pictures production associated with Vertigo Entertainment/Subconscious and will hit theaters nationwide on January 10, 2025 (with international releases starting January 8). The countdown begins now, and we can't wait for you to experience this unique love story.
So, grab your popcorn, your bestie, and maybe a stress ball—because this is one love story you won’t want to miss. Trust me, your watchlist just got a major upgrade.
